The European Institute for Legal Studies (EUROJUS) was established in 2003 to foster interdisciplinary study and the teaching of European Law by cultivating a worldwide network of scholars with similar interests. In 2015 its Board has decided to enlarge the field of action of the Institute, focusing on European policies and EU affairs also on the side of communication.
Since January 2016 this independent academic association is thus called The European Institute for Legal and Communication Studies, or L’Institut Européen d’Études Juridiques et de Communication (IEEJC – EUROJUS) seeking to contribute to the public debate on Europe through analysis, studies and articles on topical subjects and questions relevant to Europe.
- Its team includes researchers, journalists and academics from different countries and carries out research from a European perspective in the fields of Positive Globalization, EU and International law and strategies, Economics, Labour law, Energy efficiency and sustainable development and delivers comments, analysis and briefings on these topics.
. - The aim of the European Institute for Legal and Communication Studies is to facilitate collaboration across European excellence in research on Europe and to develop an interactive and participatory forum; in this sense the Institute supports doctoral and postdoctoral academic researchers working together on shared topics of interest, offering them knowledge and know-how.
. - Over the years, the Institute has promoted and assisted independent and collaborative research in a wide variety of substantive areas, promoteing the advanced study and analysis of European law, widely disseminating its results.Understanding the intricacies of the EU sphere enables the Institute to provide policy makers, researchers and NGOs with a European perspective in order to contribute to the work they must perform on the basis of the Lisbon Treaty, nourishing them with essential inputs to analyse and disseminate with a constructive and factual communication the results of their studies.
. - Researchers and assistants on the Institute’s team come from a wide range of backgrounds and maintain close relationships with many foreign research institutes; Eurojus’ alumni now serve in high-level judicial, administrative and academic positions in several European countries.
. - Structured around different themes, the Institute carries out comparative studies using its proven methodology, which involves screening the existing rules and policies in one or more Member States followed by an in-depth qualified analysis of the EU status. Its peculiar attention to International relations brought the Institute to acquire a specific knowledge on the realities of Eastern and Central Europe countries, developing a unique understanding of the Danube and Balkans Region.
. - Over the years, the dynamism of the Institute has resulted in the publication of several papers including “The Shale Gas Report,” “L’Énergie en Belgique,” “The Italian multi-utilities,” “Instruments juridiques pour une Europe qui vieillit” and many others….
. - The working languages of the Institute are French and English.
